Helen Cooper - Sports and Exercise Physiotherapist

Helen is a Gordonvale local who graduated in Physiotherapy from Queensland University in 1981, has a Masters of Sports Physio from La Trobe University and is a APA Titled Sports Physiotherapist.

Helen has worked in many areas of physiotherapy in various settings including Cairns Public Hospital, Addenbrookes Hospital, Paediatric Physiotherapy with Child Health, private practice and as a physiotherapist for the 2018 Commonwealth Games. 

Helen has a special interest in Spinal Cord Injury as her father spent over 20 years in a wheelchair after a farming accident. 

Helen is an active member in the community and has been involved in Sports Training, Coaching and First Aid services to local rugby league, AFL and Sporting Wheelies teams. 

Helen is a Masters Swimmer and Coach with interest in managing swimming injuries and performance. She helps out with first aid and training of Cairns Hoo​psnakes Wheelchair Basketball, jumping in the chair when needed.

Helen has a special interest in persistant pain and in 2017 attended a 2 week workshop at Royal North Shore Hospital, Sydney.

Helen has done further studies in Women's Health Physiotherapy and hopes this added knowledge will make Gordonvale Physiotherapy the only place you need to go to for all physiotherapy related issues. 

Helen has upskilled in Men's Health and is a member of "the Hip Academy", a group who are promoting further knowledge in the management of hip and pelvic pain. 

Helen has completed  shoulder courses  with Jeremy Lewis and Jo Gibson so has many tools to treat those acute or persistent shoulder complaints.

Helen is currently doing some physiotherapy services to Pyramid Residential Care and is on their board. 

Steven Miller- Allied Health Assistant and Massage Therapist

Steven has completed a Cert in Allied Health and  recently finished a massage course. He runs some of our exercise classes and can look after NDIS and Aged Care clients under the supervision of our physiotherapist.

David Holzheimer - Practice Manager

David has many years of experience in office duties and is a vital member of our team.

David's knowledge of the National Disability Insurance Scheme and his ability to aid participant's in understanding their plan is a great resource to our practice.  

David is also the Team Manager of the Cairns Hoopsnakes a wheelchair basketball team and is the Program Officer for Sporting Wheelies and Disabled Association.
